2019 Freshmen Opening Ceremony of the International School
The freshmen opening ceremony of the International School was held on September 16th, 2019 in Room D208 of the Lizhi Building. Attendees included all the freshmen, senior student representatives. Professor Yu Huifen, the Dean of the International School, Counselor Yang Lijun, and all faculty from the International School.

The ceremony consisted of five parts: singing the national anthem, the Dean’s speech, speeches from both the senior and freshmen representatives and Teacher Mo passionately presented academic study advice to the new students.

Then, Dean Yu Huifen gave the opening ceremony address. Dean Yu stressed that entering college is an important milestone in their life. Three specific quotes and were linked to this milestone:
‘the journey of a thousand miles begins with a single footstep’
‘habits form a personality; personality determines fate’
‘curiosity is the virtue of learners’
She, then went on to encourage students to work hard toward their goals step by step, focus on developing and maintaining good habits, and to have curiosity of the world around them.

Afterwards, Ling Yuting, a senior student representative from the International Accounting Class of 2018, shared her study experience, skills gained, and college life. Based on her experience she called on everyone to study hard and actively integrate into campus life. She strongly advised freshmen to set some specific goals and to create a daily routine to reasonably deal with their study schedule and activity engagement.

Subsequently, Guo Wenjun, a freshman representative from the International Trade Class of 2019 appealed to all freshmen to seize with both hands the many and various opportunities offered by the International School to create a better future for themselves. Her speech was full of excitement looking forward to the expectations on the upcoming semester and college life.

Finally, Techer Mo talked about some important matters in detail that needed the attention of the students after entering the International School. He indicated that students of the International School must prepare for their overseas study in advance and reminded all freshmen to pay attention to their course grades, and especially the IELTS scores. In addition, he encouraged freshmen to actively participate in the IELTS training and talent development classes offered by the International school.

After the speeches from Dean Yu, student representatives and Teacher Mo, the opening ceremony of the International School came to a successful conclusion.
A new and exciting chapter has begun for the class of 2019; we wish them smooth sailing as they navigate college life to gain knowledge and skills to better prepare for the next chapter in their life!
