On September 4th, 2019, the International School welcomed the 2019 freshmen cohort. A warm and cheerful atmosphere enveloped the campus with vibrant flags and welcoming slogans. Students from different parts of China arrived to start their new life at Huashang College .
In order to welcome new students,, the related support work teams responsible for the reception stayed on duty throughout the day. At 7:30 on the morning of the reception day, counselor Yang and several student cadres arrived at the reception area to set about the orientation events.
At the base camp team members introduced the registration
procedures and stored belongings for the freshmen.
At the base camp of the International School next to the main road on campus, the reception work was in full swing and everyone was absorbed in it. The student cadres played roles of student assistants; they were enthusiastic and actively solved many kinds of problems for new students.
Several of the student assistants acted as guides and took newcomers around the campus to help them become familiar with the campus. The freshmen, politely communicated with the student assistants, calling them “Sir”and showed their gratitude. Although it was very hot outside, everyone's enthusiasm for welcoming the freshmen was not diminished at all. With the help of faculty and student assistants, the orientation work progressed without any hiccups..
First, the freshmen signed their names on the International School banner, then the student assistants introduced the registration procedures in detail and guided them to the registration desk. In order to keep their belongings safe, work members set up a luggage depository and designated a specific person responsible for it. In addition, a special rest area was available for the parents of the new students. This attention to detail demonstrated the warmth and consideration toward both the freshmen and their parents.
The registration desk was set up in the library lobby to check the information of new students.
At the registration desk, counsellor Yang confirmed the students’ enrollment qualifications, checked their tuition payment, allocated dormitories, and handed out meal cards. The thoughtful service from our faculty and students made the freshmen and their parents feel comfortable.
The orientation and reception work lasted for two days. All team members welcomed every new student with enthusiasm and considerate service. The orientation work was successfully finished on the evening of September 5th with altogether 111 freshmen completing their admission procedures.
As the new students settle into their new life at Haushang College and the International School, we wish them all every success.
