“2+2” Sino-Australian Credit Mutual Recognition Program Symposium
On September 2nd, the International School of Huashang College held a symposium on “2+2” Sino-Australian credit mutual recognition program for teachers and students of Class 2019. The symposium was organized to help students better understand the program and answer their questions leading to an informed decision. Attendees include Yu Huifen, the Dean of the International School, staff from the International Exchange and Cooperation Office and the Office of International School, and students of Class 2019 participating in the program.
At the symposium, Thomas Yu, the Manager of University of Canberra (UC) Melbourne China Admission, John Raftopoulos, English Course faculty at UC Melbourne, and Dr. Siding Luo, Co-director at UC Melbourne, were invited to briefly introduce the program and answer students’ questions online.

John Raftopoulos, sharing his English learning and teaching experience in Australia, encouraged students to actively communicate with others to improve their oral English.
Dr. Siding Luo stated some facts to relieve students’ concerns about overseas safety during the pandemic. She said that the pandemic in Australia has been controlled and cities there will be lifted lockdown successively. Therefore, it is relatively safe for Chinese students to study in Australia. In addition, as for anti-Chinese events reports on the Internet, she explained that Australia, in which she has lived for several years, is a multicultural immigrant country with strong tolerance and where local people welcome Chinese students.

At the close of the symposium, Dean Yu thanked the guests for their sharing and made a brief summary of the information shared. At the same time, she told that the International School will continue to support student success by providing free courses, such as online IELTS oral language courses offered by a Singapore teacher, IELTS test-taking skills courses and one-to-one tutoring of IELTS speaking offered by foreign faculty, which will help students improve their English comprehensive ability and the IELTS level.
