Pre-admission Notice Awarding Ceremony for the University of Huddersfield, UK

The Pre-admission Notice Awarding Ceremony for the University of Huddersfield, UK (UHD) was held in the Qizhi Building on 29th October, 2019. Professor Ann Harris, representative of UHD; Miss Yvonne, representative of the Guangzhou Office of UHD and Mr. Wang Wenzhong, Director of International Exchange & Cooperation Office attended the ceremony.

Before starting, Chair Wang cordially welcomed Professor Ann Harris. He then mentioned that studying at UHD is a valuable experience and everyone should listen carefully to have a greater understanding of UHD.

At the beginning, Professor Ann Harris played a number-guessing game with students. Numbers were used as clues to demonstrate her interesting stories and experience. Professor Harris used the number game as a learning exercise demonstrating crucial information in our daily life. Then photos of the UHD campus were shared.

After a short interaction, Professor Harris posed four topics to students: What we will learn, Why we learn, How to learn, and How to think about studying. She introduced the background of English-speaking countries, highlighted the importance of learning English and shared the methods of adapting to overseas life. Furthermore, Professor Harris mentioned that studying, a process to acquire knowledge, improve skills and build positive learning attitude, is motivated by the interest and desire for success. Thus, automatic learning is very important.

Information about course arrangement of UHD was also introduced by Professor Harris. She emphasized that UHD not only paid great attention to teaching students knowledge, skills, and fostering them positive learning attitude, but also showed great consideration towards foreign students on their study and life.

Next,Professor Harris offered the pre-admission notice of UHD to freshmen who will study in UHD three years later. Every student received elaborate gifts from UHD.

Then, Professor Harris awarded certificates to the students who participated in the volunteer teaching activity held by UHD for public welfare last summer.

In summary, Miss Yvonne gave a brief introduction about the educational model, background, campus environment, campus life, and courses for foreign students. She encouraged students to study hard to earn good grades for overseas study in the near future.

Through this ceremony, students learned about UHD and made up their mind to study diligently for their bright future. We wish all of them great achievements in the future.
