International College Students as ESG Campus Ambassadors at "GuilinESQUEL'sStudy Program"

Recently, the "Career Exploration under the Theme of Sustainable Development" study tour, jointly hosted by Huashang Education Group, Guangzhou Biyi Technology Co., Ltd., and Guoxing Tianxia, concluded successfully at the Yida Sustainable Development Garden in Guilin, Guangxi.

Nearly 40 participants, including corporate mentors, group members, and university faculty and students, attended this event. Yaoyi Lao, a student from the 2023 ACCA International Certified Accountant class of the InternationalSchooland an ESG campus ambassador, fully participated in this activity.

The themed study tour involved participating in lectures related to the ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) theme, visiting the leading enterprise in Guilin, Liyuan Group, and understanding its practical implementation of sustainable development concepts. This enabled university students to gain a deeper understanding of the framework of ESG reports and the application of ESG in enterprises and urban planning. Through activities such as dialogues with corporate HR personnel, mock corporate interviews, and resume creation, the students were inspired and greatly helped in their personal career planning and employment choices. The event also made the students aware that ESG is a concept that has risen in popularity worldwide in recent years, and there is a significant shortage of talent in this field in China, indicating a very broad prospect for future development.

Yaoyi Lao's reflections on participating in this event are: "Today, we are standing at the forefront of the era of sustainable development and green industry. We should seize the opportunities of the times, continuously enrich our knowledge, contribute to the community of shared future for mankind and the sustainable development of our motherland, and lay a solid foundation for our personal career development."

It is reported that ESG is a framework for sustainable investment and corporate management, used to assess and measure a company's performance and sustainability in environmental, social, and governance aspects. E stands for Environment, S for Social, and G for Governance.

Environment: It focuses on a company's performance in environmental protection and sustainable resource utilization. This includes reducing carbon emissions, energy saving and emission reduction, sustainable use of resources, pollution control, renewable energy, etc.

Social: It concerns the relationships between a company and its employees, suppliers, customers, and community, as well as the company's impact on society. This includes employee rights, diversity and inclusion, labor rights, human rights, community support, etc.

Governance: It focuses on the internal management and oversight mechanisms of a company to ensure transparency, accountability, and ethical operations. This includes the independence of the board of directors, shareholder rights, financial transparency, anti-corruption measures, etc.
