International School and International Exchange and Cooperation Office jointly hold Nigeria Cultural Sharing Conference

On June 11th, the eighthseriesof the "Exploring Foreign Cultures,Promoting Mutual Learning ofCivilizations"InternationalCulturalExchangeSeries, the Nigeria Cultural Sharing Conference, arrived as scheduled. Thisconference is jointly organized by the International School and International Exchange and Cooperation Office, and invites Thomas TonyChidi, a Nigerian master's student atGuangdong Polytechnic Normal University, as the guest speaker. Hui Yanyan, Dean of the International School, Yang Lijun, Secretary of theCCPParty Branch of the International School, Dr. Frank Larbi, Dr. Aneela Qadir, as well as four foreign friends from Nigeria and more than 60students from School of Accounting, School ofArts, School of Health and Medicine, School of Artificial Intelligence, School of Economics and Trade, School of Foreign Languages, School of Management, and International School gathered together to experience the exotic atmosphere of Nigeria.

A Chinese song "Ten Years" sung byaNigerian has sparked enthusiastic applause at the scene. The precise Chinese pronunciation and African style rhythm demonstrate the ability of foreigners to learn Chinese and their love for Chinese culture, and also embark on a cultural journey of friendship between China and Nigeria.

Afterwards, Thomas TonyChidiled everyone into Nigeria, where he provided a detailed introduction from the perspectives of geographical location, population, cultural industries, economic pillars, international trade, etc., using witty and humorous language.

Next, Thomas TonyChidiexplained Nigeria's cultural customs, local customs, cuisine, and fashion, while allowing his Nigerian friends to showcase ethnic costumes and dances. He emphasized that understanding different cultures should not be limited to skin color and region, but should delve into the culture and connotation of a country to achieve true cross-cultural communication.

At the end of theevent, Thomas TonyChidiinvites everyone to taste the Nigerian specialty cuisine he and his friends have personally made. The college students present not only enjoyed the delicious food, but also took photos to commemorate the cultural and culinary feast.

Dean Hui Yanyan expressed gratitude to Thomas TonyChidiand his team for their meticulous preparation for thisevent, and presented a certificate to the guest speaker Thomas TonyChidi. She emphasized that the international cultural series of activities aims to enhance students' English proficiency and deepen their understanding of the importance of harmonious coexistence and cultural exchange among different ethnic groups through rich, colorful, vivid and interesting content. This will enhance cultural inclusiveness and understanding of foreign cultures, and ultimately strengthen the concept of a community with a shared future for mankind.
