On September 11 and September 24, 2024, the International School of Guangzhou Huashang College conducted two freshman orientation sessions—one for 2024 undergraduate students and another for 2022 junior-to-senior transfer students—at the Library Auditorium and Lizhi Building B503, respectively. Led by Dean Hui Yanyan, the sessions were moderated by Freshman Counselor Hao Zixiu and Student Affairs Director Guan Huihui.

Dean Hui Yanyan began with a brief self-introduction and retraced the establishment of Huashang College and its International School, established in 2015. She highlighted the School’s commitment to providing high-quality international education through partnerships with globally renowned institutions, fostering cross-cultural competence and bilingual capabilities among students.

Emphasizing the School’s unique educational model, Dean Hui Yanyan underscored its alignment with the Belt and Road Initiative. She noted initiatives such as the "30-Minute English Morning Reading" program, participation in international organizations, and overseas research opportunities designed to enhance students’ global perspectives. Addressing concerns about overseas study requirements, tuition, and major transfers, she clarified that the School supports students in applying for graduate programs abroad by issuing recommendation letters upon meeting admission criteria.

The Dean also showcased the School’s international faculty, comprising scholars from diverse academic backgrounds, whose expertise enriches classroom experiences and cross-cultural dialogue. Regular cultural exchange events, including guest lectures and workshops, further immerse students in multilingual environments.

Dean Hui Yanyan urged students to thoroughly review the Student Handbook, a critical guide for navigating institutional regulations and campus life. She stressed its role in shaping responsible citizenship and laying a foundation for academic success.

Concluding with aspirations, Dean Hui Yanyan encouraged students to leverage the School’s resources, embrace challenges, and cultivate global leadership qualities. Her message resonated with the audience, reinforcing the institution’s mission to nurture innovative talents equipped for an interconnected world.
