Against the backdrop of actively exploring new paths for innovative education, in order to further promote the innovative education development of the International School of Guangzhou Huashang College, improve students' innovation awareness and entrepreneurial ability, and at the same time encourage college students to participate in Ministry of Education recognized subject competitions, on October 22, 2024, the International School of Guangzhou Huashang College held a seminar themed “Promoting Learning through Competition, Exploring Innovation Potential.”

This seminar specially invited Mr. Liao Jianrong, an expert in integrated work-study curriculum development from the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security, and a guest professor at multiple universities. As a competition representative, he won the provincial gold award and national silver award consecutively for five years at the China International College Students’ Innovation Competition, and guided his team of teachers and students to win the provincial special prize of the Challenge Cup for six consecutive years, achieving remarkable results and accumulating rich experience. Dean Hui Yanyan, Vice Dean Zhang Zhen, and Director of Student Affairs Office Guan Huihui of the International School attended the seminar, which was hosted by Dean Hui Yanyan.
Mr. Liao Jianrong, with his unique insights and rich competition experience, comprehensively and deeply explained the competition systems, evaluation standards, and work requirements of the China International College Students’ Innovation Competition, the “Challenge Cup” extracurricular academic and scientific works competition, and the “Challenge Cup” entrepreneurship plan competition. Combining his abundant practical experience, he provided practical and feasible suggestions on competition organization, topic selection strategies, and student team building, offering valuable advice for the International School’s future participation in competitions and innovation and entrepreneurship education.

Dean Hui Yanyan and Vice Dean Zhang Zhen each shared their views on the philosophy and practice of innovative education, and conducted an in-depth discussion on how to better integrate competitions with the feature education of the International School, how to stimulate the innovation potential of International School’s college students, and how to improve students’ practical abilities, finding specific and operable pathways for organizing college students to participate in Ministry of Education recognized Category A subject competitions.
This seminar fully demonstrated the International School’s attention to college students’ innovation education, as well as its high emphasis on guiding students to actively participate in Category A college student subject competitions. The International School will combine its educational characteristics, increase publicity and support for Category A subject competitions, stimulate the enthusiasm of teachers and students to participate in competitions, provide more professional guidance for students in subject competitions, and make greater contributions to the qualified evaluation of our undergraduate teaching.
