Amid rapid societal progress and intensifying competition in the job market, college students face diverse career choices and unprecedented challenges, making clear career planning especially crucial. To help students establish the correct views on careers and employment, on November 18, Guangzhou Huashang College International School held the preliminary round of the College Students’ Career Planning Contest in Room 201 of Qizhi Building. The contest was judged by International School teachers Hao Zixiu and Yao Xiaomin. Eight students from the International School registered to compete in the preliminary selection: Yuan Zifeng from the English major; Feng Rui from International Economics and Trade; Zhai Enpei, Liu Yawen, and Maidai Mamutijiang from Accounting; and Peng Can, Yu Xiaoshi, and Qiu Huiting from Early Childhood Education.
During the competition, all eight contestants showcased their strengths by presenting their future career plans. They discussed their ideas on career development from various aspects, including personal interests, career personality tests, and preferred career directions and positions. Using various assessment software and self-analysis, the participants conducted comprehensive evaluations of their personalities, strengths, and weaknesses; expressed insights regarding their future professional fields; and formulated long-, medium-, and short-term goals based on their individual traits, major characteristics, and career plans. They also proposed corresponding adjustments and coping strategies for each stage. Through PowerPoint presentations and live reports, the contestants demonstrated clear understanding and rational thinking about their future career planning. The audience listened attentively and deeply realized the importance of career planning for college students, while reflecting on their own future employment.

At the conclusion, Hao Zixiu summarized and commented based on the contestants’ presentations and on-site performances, offering participation suggestions. She acknowledged the students’ positive and serious attitudes and praised their excellent performances. She expressed great satisfaction with their clear awareness and rational thinking regarding their career plans. Meanwhile, Hao Zixiu pointed out issues mostly related to PPT design, participant appearance, time management, and report content, and provided corresponding recommendations. Lastly, she thanked all students for sacrificing their lunch break to participate in the preliminary contest and expressed gratitude to all teachers and staff for their hard work.

After the preliminary round, based on the judges’ comprehensive scores, Maidai Mamutijiang and Qiu Huiting were unanimously selected to advance to the school-level semifinals.

This College Students’ Career Planning Contest not only honed the students’ expression and logical thinking skills but also provided a platform for mutual communication and learning.
