To convey the spirit of the university's high-quality development conference to every faculty and staff member and foster a collective momentum for progress, the International School of Guangzhou Huashang College held its opening semester work meeting on February 25, 2025, in Room 408 of Qizhi Building. The meeting was chaired by Dean Hui Yanyan, with Vice Dean Zhang Zhen, Director of Student Affairs Guan Huihui, teaching secretaries, administrative staff, management personnel, and full-time faculty members in attendance. The meeting focused on deploying tasks for student management, teaching management, university development goals, and the International School's work plan for the new semester.

Guan Huihui provided a detailed arrangement for student affairs, clarifying key tasks and specific requirements for the semester. Student work will closely align with the undergraduate teaching qualification assessment to comprehensively support the school's development, including: strengthening student safety management, advancing academic atmosphere construction, implementing student habit formation education, deepening Party and Youth League work, invigorating student clubs, promoting the "One School, One Brand" project, organizing innovation and entrepreneurship activities, refining enrollment promotional materials, assisting the Alumni Office in preparing for the 20th anniversary celebration, hosting ambassador forums, and actively participating in three major United Nations Association events. The school will establish an academic atmosphere supervision team to enhance classroom management, enforce discipline, and cultivate a positive learning environment. Under the leadership of the school administration, the semester will feature various student activities with international characteristics, such as organizing foreign teachers and students to visit the Nansha Lantern Festival to experience the unique charm of traditional Chinese culture and hosting a dubbing competition based on the animated film Nezha 2.
Deputy Dean Zhang Zhen outlined detailed teaching arrangements for the semester. She emphasized that February 24–28 marks a critical period for the university's initial teaching inspection. All full-time faculty must prepare complete teaching materials, including syllabi, teaching schedules, courseware, and lesson plans, in compliance with university standards and requirements. These are not only fundamental to teaching but also crucial for ensuring teaching quality. Course development is a key driver for improving teaching quality and standards. Faculty should uphold tradition while innovating, designing targeted and engaging content based on disciplinary characteristics and student needs. Each course should meet the requirements for qualified courses while striving to build a distinctive curriculum system. Lastly, Vice Dean Zhang highlighted the importance of cross-school collaboration, urging faculty to actively cooperate with other schools in disciplinary and course development, participate in related activities, and promote academic exchange and collaboration. This will facilitate resource sharing, coordinated development, and provide a broader platform for teaching innovation.
Dean Hui Yanyan conveyed the spirit of the university's high-quality development conference and, based on the speeches of university leaders, outlined specific requirements for the semester's work in line with the university's key tasks and development plan:
Emphasizing a Big-Picture Perspective and Long-Term Commitment: The university's three major future goals are passing the undergraduate teaching qualification assessment, applying for master's degree programs, and establishing Guangzhou Huashang University, all of which require sustained effort from every faculty and staff member.
Prioritizing the Undergraduate Teaching Qualification Assessment: The most urgent task is preparing for the assessment, which must be passed in one attempt as required by the board of directors. Every faculty member and position must strictly adhere to assessment standards without error.
Enhancing Faculty Development: The International School will focus on improving the teaching capabilities and training of young faculty. Two teachers completing one year of service by July–August will attend a 12-day ELICOS teaching methodology training in Australia during the summer break.
Improving Service and Management: All positions in the International School must prioritize service, continuously learn and understand policies, ensure governance in accordance with regulations, and deliver effective service and management based on policy awareness.
Strengthening Distinctive Initiatives: The school will persistently develop its unique projects, consolidating existing achievements while launching new initiatives such as the Ambassador Forum and the Nezha 2 English Dubbing Competition.
Deepening Industry Collaboration: Launching an enterprise mentorship program.
Promoting Student Competitions: Actively preparing for the "Challenge Cup" National Undergraduate Academic and Technological Works Competition and organizing English-language contests.
Preparing for the 20th Anniversary Celebration: Engaging alumni and producing promotional brochures and videos for the International School.
Advancing Enrollment Promotion: Proactively conducting outreach at target high schools to expand the university's influence.
Strengthening Party Branch Development: Organizing substantive activities to ensure ideological and political education resonates deeply.
This opening semester work meeting further aligned the International School's tasks with the university's overall deployment, fostering unity and shared purpose, and laying a solid foundation for the school's work in the new semester.
