2021 Freshman English Intensive Training Camp Closing Ceremony

In order to allow freshmen to experience the international atmosphere, help them better adapt to classes in English, and boost confidence in English learning; the International School organized a three-day English intensive training camp for the 2021 freshmen of International School.

After the three-day training, the freshmen presented an elaborately prepared stage show on October 26th, 2021 in the Huashang Conference Center. Attendees included all the freshmen, senior student representatives. Staff and faculty in attendance included: Professor Zhong Senwen, the Vice President of Huashang College; Mr Wang Wenzhong, the Director of the International Exchange and Cooperation Office; Dr. Sal Mirza, Mr. Colin Black and Ms. Lu Yan, the faculty of the camp; Professor Yu Huifen, the Dean of the International School; Professor Li Pinghai, the Vice Dean of the International School; Mr. Yang Lijun, the Counselor of the International School; and the staff from the International School.

To kick-off the event, Wang Qian as a representative of the freshmen gave a speech. She appreciated this learning opportunity provided by school, and thought the training camp improved her confidence in learning English.

Then, Mr. Colin Black and Ms. Lu Yan, the faculty from the training camp, gave speeches. Mr. Colin expressed his pleasure to witness the growth of the 2021 freshmen cohort and encouraged students to work hard to improve themselves. Ms. Lu Yan felt honored to spend a great time with the freshmen and felt delighted with students’ wonderful performances.

Then freshmen presented a stage show to the audience. Students were confident and devoted, bringing a wonderful performance. Various forms of programs were showed, including songs, dances and dramas. Students’ excellent acting and fluent expression impressed the audience deeply and were highly praised.

After the performance, Dr. Sal Mirza made comments. He praised the students’ acting talents and progress in English, and believed that the training camp improved students’ confidence. Mr. Wang hoped that students could keep expressing themselves confidently, improve their oral English and give full play to their advantages and talents through more practice.

Afterwards, the honored guests presented awards to eight teams acknowledging students’ enthusiastic participation and outstanding performances.

In conclusion, Dean Yu gave a closing speech. She admired the students’ bold attempts and brilliant performances. She believed this training camp provided a good platform for students to show themselves and improve their English. She thanked all the guests for their participation and all the staff for their collaboration during the camp, especially the faculty for their efforts in the class.

The ceremony of the training camp came to a successful end, with a series of rewarding activities. We all look forward to the Class of 2022 English intensive training camp.
