The 2nd English Evening of the International School

In order to enrich college life, cultivate students’ interest in English and build an English learning atmosphere, the 2nd English Evening of International School was held in the Huashang Meeting Center on December 17th, 2019. Four hosts, representatives of student union of International School, gave warm welcome to faculty and students and announced the start of the event. The English Evening began with warm applause.

Professor Zhang Zhen, Vice Chair of Department of Economics and Finance, Professor Yang Runxiu, Vice Chair of Department of Foreign Language, Mr. Wang Wenzhong, Director of International Exchange and Cooperation Office of Huashang College, and foreign faculty Professor Sal Mirza and Mr. Christian Saunders were cordially invited as judges. Additional, several other faculty including James Parkinson, Sun Qian, Zhou Jie, Huang Junjie, and Cai Qingfu were invited as guests.

There were 14 performance during the evening, including; dance, song, recitation, drama, and voice over .

The performance during the English evening were rich and colourful. Hip-hop Warning brought us a wonderful opening performance. The audience was immersed in the musical Maria and the Kids and moved by the melody of the piano solo. Beauty and the Beast, a funny show, took audiences into a fairy tale world. Then, the rhythmic recitation and the pleasant song brought us a both a visual and auditory feast. The Whole World Celebrated, combining song and dance, greatly demonstrated the vitality and talents of students of International School. Hip-hop TEAM with its strong beat performance solicited audience participation. The voice offer performances of Moana and Peppa Pig, choir Monsters, opera High School Musical, and solo Feeling Good rounded out the evening ending successfully with the opera We Like Party.

Then, Professor Sal and Mr. Wang Wenzhong made comments to the audience on the excellent performances and highly praised all the performers. The elaborate video made by the Student Union of International School recording students’ study and life touched everyone in attendance.

As the evening drew to an end, everyone was eager for the award ceremony. 18 English International Class won the first prize for their song Monsters. 18 International Business International Class and 18 International Economic and Trade International Class won the second prize. The third prize was awarded to 19 Accounting International Class, the performance team of Art Troupe and the dancing team of Art Troupe of International School. The dancing team and singing team of Art Troupe of Foreign Language Department received the friendship award for their outstanding performances. The other teams were awarded the excellent award.

During the two hours, students fully showed their enthusiasm and interests. The English Evening demonstrated the vitality of students and great success with the joint efforts of all students and staff of the International School.
