Ms. Lin Min Lectured on How to Start a Business in the Internet Age

The International School of Huashang College cordially welcomed Ms. Lin Min, the founder of Guangdong Moli Digital Technology Group. She lectured on career guidance for college students and shared her entrepreneurial experience. Held in Room 409 of Qizhi Building on October 19, 2021; it was the 16th lecture of the Cultural Quality Lecture Series. The attendees included Dean Yu Huifen, staff of the International School, students of the International School, and faculty and students interested in the topic.

Ms. Lin Min, has been honored as an Outstanding Young Entrepreneur in Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, held the role of Vice President of Guangzhou Live E-Commerce Association, Special Expert of Guangzhou Social Science Federation, and Vice President of Alumni Association of the International School, Jinan University. With more than ten years of internet marketing experience, she has provided e-commerce marketing services for thousands of well-known brands.

In this lecture, Ms. Lin Min focused on three aspects: personal development and career choices, enlightenment of startups, and the development and approaches of talent marketing. Illustrating key points with the use of case studies and asking questions, she fully mobilized the audiences’ enthusiasm and created a lively atmosphere.

When talking about personal development and career choices, Ms. Lin expressed that college students should position themselves from their interests, advantages and needs, and make clear career plans. She identified six elements of selecting a suitable job, for instance, the possibility of meeting good partners, gaining new knowledge and acquiring skill certificates conducive to future career development. In addition, the job is interesting and meaningful, and the salary can support the desired lifestyle and ensure financial independence.

Then, referring to starting a business, Ms. Lin Min emphasized that a good entrepreneur should have insight into social needs and predict the future development trends of the industry segment the entrepreneur is engaged in. Using Tencent as an example, she emphasized that entrepreneurs starting a business should not be afraid of difficulties, challenges, and times of low income. Ms. Lin combined her company’s establishment and development history, to propose four basic conditions for successful startups: the ability to impel and inspire people towards the same goals, be prepared for long-term hard work, keep learning, and having family support.

Finally, Ms. Lin Min shared her company’s rapid growth and briefly introduced the approaches of talent marketing. She mentioned that it’s necessary to research and anticipate public needs to search for the starting point of a startup.

During the Q&A session, students enthusiastically asked questions, and Ms. Lin answered patiently.

In closing, Dean Yu Huifen thanked Ms. Lin Min for her coming and wonderful speech. She concluded that Ms. Lin Min gave an insightful and informative lecture on startups. In addition, she noted that Ms. Lin Min expounded three important life strategies, four inevitable life choices, personal entrepreneurial experience and four keys to starting a successful business in her lecture, which attracted and impressed students. Finally, she encouraged students to study hard and be bold in making innovations in order to create a successful career in the future.
